A worthy investment for Forth Logistics Marine Services, as Fendercare Marine's fenders provide significant cost advantage over previous fendering.
Overview
Forth Logistics offers a diverse and flexible fleet operated out of Port Edgar, Edinburgh. Having had issues with the reliability and lifetime of the rubber fenders installed on the majority of its vessels, it turned to Fendercare Marine to provide an alternative fendering solution for two new workboats, Wave Dance and Wave Spirit.
Challenge
Forth Logistics vessels operate daily in often extreme and harsh environments. When using rubber fenders it found it was having to maintain or even replace them every three months, resulting in significant associated costs and vessel downtime.
Solution
Fendercare Marine was able to provide a new solution to Forth Logistics through its partnership with Poly Marine Services. With over 30 years of experience, Poly Marine Services has utilised its knowledge of polymer technology for the offshore oil and gas industry to manufacture best-in-class vessel and quayside fendering systems.
These fenders were recommended to Forth Logistics due to being significantly more durable than conventional rubber fender products, requiring less maintenance, therefore adding measurable value to its operations.
Poly marine fenders are designed for simple integration on a range of vessels and possess excellent wear resistance and impact protection properties. Full in-house design capabilities, along with the confidence of a manufacturing process that complies with the highest offshore specifications ensures quality and performance of the products which continue to lead the market.
Benefits of poly marine fenders include:
- Ultra-strong lightweight material
- High abrasion resistance
- UV and chemical resistant
- Low coefficient of friction
- Proven in the harshest environments
- Partial replacement options
- Simple mounting system
- Various sizes available
- Specifically manufactured to suit geographical variances
- Bespoke designs
Poly marine fenders have now been on-board for over two years and are operating in very good condition, exceeding expectations from Forth Logistics.
Fendercare Marine is one of the world's leading suppliers of marine equipment and services, and is proud to offer high quality solutions to its customers.
Sandy McPhail, owner at Forth LogisticsPort Edgar, EdinburghThe installation was simple compared to conventional rubber products; the fendering was significantly more flexible, easier to drill/cut and required no special tooling for installation.
It goes without saying that the biggest benefit we have seen is the dramatic reduction in maintenance and vessel downtime costs, which has far outweighed the increase in capital cost over conventional rubber fendering.
Fendercare’s fixed fendering would be an asset for any fleet and has my highest recommendation based on our experience.
